I’ll miss John, he was a real veterans advocate. He recurited me in 1988 into the VFW. I was the youngest VFW member at the time on record.

My deepest ‘Sympathy,’ to the Family of Mr. Fitzke, as well as a great loss to the (Veterans Of Foreign Wars…)

Your newsletter is great. I’ve been in the Coast Guard for 28 years and I just recently recieved orders to USCG Airsta Sacramento. I noticed you were located close to the base. I will be on a two year unaccompied tour because my family is staying in Washington state. I’m looking for a resonable place to live or a place I can camp while I’m stationed there. I have a truck with a camper that I could stay in for several weeks or months if need be. If you have any recommendations please e-mail me at zuehlss@aol.com

I came back to look at this after reading about a Sacramento man who took his own life 15 months after returning from Iraq. http://www.sacbee.com/topstories/story/1937045.html

So sad. I wish there was a way to reach out and help ease the burdens these people carry. I wish that people would not feel such a stigma attached to getting help for mental health issues. We need to change the way we think/talk and react about this and stop making jokes and causing people to be ashamed of asking for help when their very life depends on it.

I think that coming home can be just as hard as being there.

I see that today is the last day to enter the Memorial Day Parade. I’m wondering if there are any requirements for possibly setting up a Pampered Chef table along the parade route?
Please let me know if this is allowed and if I need to fill out an application.
