While I wasn’t able to attend the 2008 California Capitol Air Show this year, we did get a spectacular view of the Blue Angels practicing for the event. Every year they fly right above our home. The sound of the engines blast through every section rattling the walls and sometime feeling a little too close for comfort. <g> Still, it is an excitement that fills my spirit as I run outside to try to catch a glimpse before they are long gone. Then with a boom they are right back. I love it.
I went to the website official website to get more info on the Blue Angels and guess what? They have the rumbling sound of the engines, it builds up and then fades off a little, you’ll have to check it out. I’m listening to that as I write this. I don’t know why, but I love the sound.
My cat is still running for cover everytime he hears a plane overhead. For awhile he would wedge himself behind the toilet. Kind of smart in a way, if there were an earth quake that would probably be a safe place to be. Animals have an inborn instinct for these things.
Thanks to these guys for posting photos to share on Flickr.com
There are more photos from the Capitol Air Show that were taken by Bernard Zee which also include breath taking shots from 2007 San Francisco Fleet week. Take a moment to view them, it’s well worth the time. Gosh, I wish I had been out on the bay when those planes were flying around the golden gate bridge and above the boats. It was a beautiful day on the water. Maybe next year I’ll get to go.
As a child, one of the most exciting things I remember about Easter was going to the store and seeing bins filled with colorful baby chicks.
On my grampa’s farm I would chase the little chickies all over the place trying to catch one. They were too swift for me darting under the fence or into an opening in the barn. Finally the mama hen would get fed up and jump all over me. Scared me from chasing her babies. That’s for sure.
Children love little baby bunnies, ducklings and chicks. They are cute a cuddly. Fun to play with for about a day or so. But what happens after the novelty wears off?
Rabbits and birds need special care. While they may make excellent pets for some people, they are not toys. Please resist the urge to buy them for your children unless you are willing and able to take proper care of them.
Every year after the Easter holiday animal shelters get an abundance of left over easter “babies”.
Some animals are better enjoyed as the delicate beauty of nature. Left in their natural habitat.
Like my grandmother used to say, “These aren’t play pretties.” You look but don’t touch.
They should never be dyed or left at the mercy of a three year old, or any child for that matter. Teaching our children to respect the earth and the animals who live among us is vital.
These guys are colorful and tasty and don’t have to be cared for.
Stuffed animals, colored easter eggs, non-living toys are a much better alternative. Don’t you think so?

If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties — someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." -- John F. Kennedy
