You know what else really gets under my skin is that very often friends don't send anything personal, don't call, don't invite you over or out for coffee etc. It's like you don't exist to them for ages, until they get a freaking chain letter, then all of a sudden, they send this kruft that preaches on and on about how to be a perfect friend and family member and not to wait to show your love etc. And, the fact this sappy canned glurge has already been circulating all over the place, and your friend got it from a friend who got it from an equally and esily manipulated jerk who you don't know from a hole in the ground, well! That makes getting this crap all the more special, right? (turns burner down on sarcasm a bit* Yeah, chain letters and people fooled into sending them really annoy me, but that goes especially for this sort and anything that disguises itself as religion or tells a fictional sick kid story to tear-jerk and guilt-trip people into passing it on. And the kicker is when you tell the forwarders to stop sending this junk, they abandon you in favor of sending chain letters to other people who are as gullible as they are, or too afraid of saying anything to hurt their feelings and risk being dumped as friends. Argh!
